Christian Ready
Christian Ready is an astronomer at Towson University where he serves as lecturer and planetarium director. To that end he spends most of his time figuring out how to better teach astrophysics to his students so they can have his job someday. Christian is also the director of the Towson University Planetarium. There, he gives presentations to the public, school field trips, and pretty much anyone else who stops by.
Christian is also the creator and host of the Launch Pad Astronomy channel on YouTube. There, he makes videos about … I’ll give you three guesses on this one.
Previously (like, way back in the 90’s), Christian worked as a Program Coordinator on the Hubble Space Telescope at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, and later as a science operations specialist on the X-Ray Timing Explorer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.
Then in 2011, Christian met co-Science GoH Mike Brotherton at WindyCon 37 and became BAFF* ever since. The two host the Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop for Writers at the University of Wyoming every summer.
But Christian’s real claim to fame is that he’s married to author Jeri Smith-Ready (who also goes by Avery Cockburn. Chris and Jeri are the proud parents of two cats, Twinkle and Leo. They live in Westminster, Maryland.
